As one of the first Coding and Mobile App Development Grant recipients awarded by NCDPI, Lenoir County Public Schools utilized funding to design coding and computer science experiences for all LCPS middle school students and designed online Coding Courses available to every LCPS high school student. We have been able to expand our coding curriculum to include the AP Computer Science Pathway. Let us share our challenges and successes with you and discover how we are changing the future for our students.

Marketing your school has never been easier than in this day and age. Enrollment in NC public schools has been trending downward for several years. A strategic social media plan can increase the reach of your school’s voice and show community members why their students should attend their local public school. In this session, we will take a look at a year-long magnet school case study. We will look at how and why did this school implement a targeted strategy, as well as what they learned along the way. We will explore what it takes to create a successful social media strategy for schools of all types, sizes, and locations. Session-goers will be given several templates for creating their school’s strategy and brand kit plus a list of web tools that they can use to help plan for, implement, and analyze the success of their school’s social media strategy. They will spend a portion of the session beginning to work on their brand kit and strategy.

Participants will take part in a Digital Professional Development and learn about an incentive system called "THE BADGE SYSTEM." They will explore how they can implement the badge system in their schools and motivate their staff to earn CEUS on their own time. Participants will leave the session with their first badge and materials that will allow them to get started with motivating their staff/ colleagues to earn CEUS.

Implementing the TGIF Model for just-in-time professional learning has transformed PD for teachers at Knightdale High School. In this session, attendees will experience our teacher-led flexible model for differentiated professional learning designed to meet the emergent needs of teachers and staff. TGIF sessions are delivered in a fun, low-pressure environment where teachers all can learn together and take away practical tools and strategies to employ in classrooms right away. This presentation will discuss productivity apps designed to help make our lives easier. From list making and note taking, to mindfulness and everything in between. Most of these apps are free of charge or allow for free educator accounts.

This session is going to be participant-driven and designed for ITFs of all experience levels. Targeted to everyone from ITF-newbies to ITF-seasoned veterans, this session will share what we have learned over the last 10 years of being ITFs in Moore County and offer opportunities for participants to share what they have learned as ITFs in their own district. Topics that will be discussed include: documentation of support, preferred methods of PD delivery, staying on top of the latest trends in edtech, biggest challenges and more.

Schools have changed within the past three years, and teachers are strapped for time more than ever; however, professional development is often still stuck in the past. As ITFs, coaches, and specialists, we must learn to adapt and reach our teachers in new ways. In this session, we will identify/evaluate various ways to reach teachers without the heavy sighs and eye-rolling and share examples and strategies that have worked for our district.

What type of personalties are you are likely to encounter when coaching technology? In this session, we will explore the five personality types that you will commonly encounter and learn strategies to provide effective coaching. Participants will be engaged and collaborate through the use of polls, padlets, small group discussion, and role play.

Media Coordinators wear many hats during the school day: librarian, library assistant, teacher, tech support, substitute parent, etc. Many of us do all of these things within the confines of a fixed and busy schedule. How do we find balance? This session will feature ways to work collaboratively with your school community, create engaging student lessons, integrate technology into lessons, keep your media center running and keep the balls in the air at all times.

Greater engagement with parents and caregivers in online learning environments begins with filling in the gaps. Discover templates, resources, and best practices to support Canvas Observers (parents/caregivers) as they navigate the Canvas online learning environment along with their students.

In this session, we will be using active learning strategies for adult learners such as movement, role play and discussion, to demonstrate methods for giving meaningful feedback based on the ISTE Standards for coaches. Participants will utilize charting and Jamboards to demonstrate understanding of the standards, active learning and definition of meaningful feedback. Participants will discuss and roleplay scenarios demonstrating meaningful feedback in heterogeneous groups formed based on a ‘read the room’ activity called That’s Me.

This session will focus on reenergizing digital innovation and creativity for educators and their students in a post-pandemic classroom. As classes shifted to online learning, 21st-century skills had to be put aside in an effort to prioritize teaching across a new medium. Now more than ever, it is critical that we return our focus to creating instruction that is engaging, equitable and inclusive. Attendees of this session will learn about easily integrated tools for innovation that builds collaboration, multimedia design and building, and formative assessment. Attendees will have hands-on experience with AR apps, personalized learning tools, Swift coding apps, Adobe Express, iMovie and Clips, and 3D Design.
