We have used CANVAS to set up a course based on the resources from the VEX Robots site. We are following the VEX model to prep students for a competition. Our hope is to start a Robotics Club and we thought this would be a great way to introduce Robotics Competition. The CANVAS Robotics experience also acts as a supplement to the Skills USA Robotics curriculum. We have one classroom set of robot kits from VEX.
For our session, we will have the CANVAS course set up as a public course with self-enrollment for teachers to see the course as students would see it. We will also add the course to the Commons for teachers who would like to import it into their CANVAS instance if they choose to follow this model of Introduction to Robotics.
We intend to have two robotics building stations with parts, tools, and instructions for session participants to get a feel for the building process, as well as two stations for participants to try maneuvering a Basebot, the simplest build, and a Clawbot which is a little more advanced. We would like to have a Robotics field set up as well so we can have our participants try out the Robot to Robot competition.
