After providing participants with an overview of our processes for creating school-level news programs and documentaries, including student-made videos and sample guiding documents, we will provide an experiential approach by creating a demo broadcast within our session. In groups, participants will actively use a green screen, iPad/iPhone, and Canva for Educators to record, edit, and produce a short news film using provided prompts. Our slideshow will include optional devices, software, and online resources that may be explored further for participants to develop programming to meet specific needs within their context. Participants will utilize the skills learned to help students build confidence and address school wide SEL goals.
