Many educators struggle to utilize technology effectively in their lessons with the intention to provide rigor and maintain the engagement of students. Attendees will navigate how to use research-based instructional models, SAMRs and Backwards Design, to ensure rigor and engagement is simultaneously achieved. Attendees will walk through examples of exemplary plans and how to appropriately select resources using these models. The use of collaborative digital tools in this make-and-take session, will allow attendees to practice what they learned and take this back into the classroom. The engaging activities that are shared will be “out of the box” ideas for utilizing Google. The attendees will be provided with multiple downloadable resources and informative handouts to help in educators' future planning. Attendees will develop strategies in purposeful planning using a Backwards Design template that will ensure educators are strategically selecting activities based on the SAMRs Model to achieve depths of knowledge through rigor.
