Feedback form is now closed.
In this session participants will discover strategies and tools to assist EL students in the classroom. Our goal is to help make the language transition as simplified as possible for both the teacher and the student. The strategies we will share are a combination of SIOP best practices and processes that we have successfully utilized with our students. The majority of tools that will be introduced are Google based and easily accessible to participants who have Google accounts. We will walk participants through the process of using translation features available in Google based products and in the Canvas LMS. They will also practice utilizing the language caption features on Youtube.

Google tips to share:
How to translate google documents
How to translate PDF documents
Additional tools with translation features (have login with google option)

Additional tips:
Using captions in Youtube and changing the language
Changing the language in Canvas/Immersive Reader

Interactive Features of the session:
Participants will work through an activity that demonstrates the multiple steps an EL student must work through to complete a single assignment.
They will also participate in a SayHi app conversation with another participant.
They will practice using the translation feature for captions in Google Meet with a partner(s)
Participants will also have the opportunity to share additional strategies and resources with the group
