As with all of our educational practices, equity should be a foundational element for both digital learning and technology integration. Identifying what this looks like in our school spaces is key. In this session, three librarians--one each from elementary, middle, and high--will introduce examples of equity driven maker projects they’ve facilitated as part of enrichment, clubs, or embedded within the curriculum. From green screen activities that foster positive identities to podcasting projects that center students’ own stories, a wide range of projects--both large and small--will be quickly shared.


The bulk of the session will involve attendees in break-out groups creating their own identity positive projects using a variety of digital tools. Attendees will get hands-on practice with specific projects and leave with inspiration, ideas, and templates. The three breakout sessions that attendees will choose from include:
Using Canva to create Digital Identity Quilts
Using Voice Record Pro for Oral History Recording and StoryCorps Lessons/NPR Curriculum
Utilizing Green Screen to place students front and center - No green screen, no problem! Tools will be shared that can be used with or without a physical green screen.
