Engaging Activities for using MicroBit in your Classroom

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

Feedback form is now closed.
As many elementary educators are introducing technology tools in their classrooms, it is important for them to link to content learning objectives. This can sometimes be overwhelming to plan in isolation. This session will provide a safe space to explore and collaborate the use of MicroBit in the elementary classroom. The participants will be introduced to the MicroBit, an educational technology tool created by Microsoft that has been used in the classroom to improve student's engagement in class activities. MicroBit uses different coding platforms and processes, depending on the experience level of the user, which is highly applicable to multi-subject classrooms. The session facilitators will model how to program the MicroBits generally before encouraging them to try manipulating the MicroBit for themselves. At the end of the session, the facilitators will ask participants to use their own classroom learning objectives to brainstorm how MicroBit can be incorporated into instructional activities.
