Build a Simple Microscope – and Keep it!

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

Feedback form is now closed.
This popular make-and-take workshop is back! Each educator in the workshop will build a low-cost microscope from materials that we’ll bring. You’ll become an expert at using your new microscope and taking photos on it using your smartphone, iPad, or other tablet. And you’ll brainstorm with others a little about how best to use the microscopes with students (particularly in the NC grades 2-5 science curriculum). You'll walk away with the microscopes you built, so you can use it in schools as soon as you like!

At the end of the workshop, I offer to visit and run an in-school workshop at any public elementary school in the state where >75% of the students were on free/reduced lunch (pre-pandemic levels – see this list to find out if your school is on it).
