This workshop is geared toward educators interested in 1) making 3D thinking and design approachable for students and 2) using this technology to enhance and extend student learning. Participants will engage in 3D thinking and design activities, learn foundational skills of designing with TinkerCad and OnShape, create an NCTIES key fob, and leave with lesson ideas and resources for teaching 3D thinking and design skills to their students. We will include physical and digital exercises that involve navigating in a 3D space, manipulating and combining elements to create a 3D model, and exporting models for 3D printing and other applications. A laptop is recommended for the digital design portion of the workshop, but you can use an iPad or Android tablet if necessary. A mouse and some earbuds or headphones are optional but helpful.
