360° videos and images allow students to have an immersive experience in the classroom, and they provide teachers with opportunities to deepen student knowledge about abstract concepts. Technologies such as virtual reality and augmented reality are becoming increasingly popular in classrooms, but 360° videos and images are a first step toward incorporating extended reality into lesson plans across devices. The popularity of 360° technology has grown with platforms such as Pexels and YouTube, which allow for relatively easy integration into lessons.
The purpose of this session is to provide attendees with a strategy for recording 360° images and videos. I will first share an example of a 360° camera that can be used to capture 360° videos and images. Next, I will demonstrate best practices for capturing 360° content using the camera, including lighting, background sounds, tripod use, and more. I will briefly outline the process for uploading, saving, and sharing photos from the 360° camera. Specifically, I will walk through how to upload a saved image or video to Pexels, a free website for hosting images and videos. Pexels contains over 3.2 million stock photos and videos, and users can easily view, download, and share 360° images and videos, making it an excellent option for classrooms.
Lastly, I will provide examples of 360° images and videos from Pexels and demonstrate how they can be integrated into a lesson. From this session, attendees will learn the workflow for capturing and sharing 360° videos and images. This process allows for the creation of engaging virtual environments.
