I'll be running the microscopes-building workshop – come build a microscope, take it away and use it with your students when you go back to your school! The microscopes are great with the NC elementary school essential science curriculum for 2nd grade (insects, animal life cycles), 3rd grade (plants, human body), 4th grade (matter, rocks, light, fossils, adaptations), and 5th grade (cells, plants, human body).
Want a whole set of microscopes for your school? I'm keen to help schools with large concentrations of students from low-income families. If more than half of a school's students are Economically Disadvantaged Students and/or the free and reduced lunch percentage is >75% (see list), and there are a dozen or more teachers interested in a 90-minute workshop to make about a dozen or more microscopes for the school, then I'll be only too happy to try to visit *anywhere* in North Carolina to run a workshop. Free microscopes! Just contact me at bobg@unc.edu -Bob
